What is Golfer Development? Quit Making Excuses!
The Athletic Nation Golfer Development Program is a program that is
designed to help you reach your maximum golfing potential. All the swing
instruction in the world will not help you if your body is restricting your
ability to perform the necessary movements. The program is designed to maximize
your swing potential while reducing the risk of injury. The program consists of
3 Main Components:
Strength
Strength plays
two important roles in your swing: generating power and preventing injury. By
strengthening the muscles of the body, you are able to generate more power
in your golf swing while reducing the risk of injury. Ever see a long driver
with skinny arms?
Flexibility
Ever wonder
why so many golfers suffer from low back pain? The golf swing is not a natural
movement and it places strain and stress on the muscles, joints, and discs of
the lower back. One way of helping to prevent irritating these areas is by
increasing your flexibility. Increasing the range that a muscle can stretch also
enables you to do what all golfers love to do - hit the ball
farther!
Balance
It is tough to develop a
consistent golf swing if some of your muscles are stronger than others. While it
is important to have strength, it is essential that all the muscle groups remain
in balance in order to reduce injury and maximize your
potential.
What Do I Get Out of This?
"I don't want to
get too bulky"
This should be the least of your worries. The only way
your going to get bulky is if you trained like a power-lifter and rarely
stretched. And even then it would take years to achieve this state. There is a
reason that the pro's muscles are getting bigger and it's not because
they run on a treadmill … they lift weights! Think you'll get bulky? Forget
it!
"I can't afford that"
You can't afford NOT to! Sessions
cost less than the average golf lesson. You can kiss your old gym membership
dues goodbye. For the same cost as that new driver, you can get an entire month
of Golfer Development training.
"I don't have time for
that"
Can you spare one hour per day, two days a week? That's all it's
going to take to get you in shape and create a solid foundation for that perfect
golf swing you're searching for.
"I can workout on my
own"
Try all you want, this is not something that you can do alone.
Think about it: athletes of all sports, especially golf, have and need
assistance in getting the results they are after. I urge you to research how
many tour professionals have their own personal trainers. It takes someone
keeping you accountable and taking a vested interest in your
success.
